How can you study the top words at BeeOasis.com? It’s an easy three step process.

Step One: Sign into BeeOasis; take a Levels Quiz in order to find your vocabulary level.
Step Two: Take Word Quizzes in your level in order to find new words you don’t know.
Step Three: Make word cards for the new words in order to practice *retrieval of these words.

With *retrieval you remember the word without being given the answer. For example, a Spanish speaker sees the Spanish word “dulce” on one side of a word card and remembers (retrieves) the English word “sweet” from memory.

This system is simple, but it uses good science and teaching practice. With Level Quizzes, you find your level of vocabulary. With the Word Quizzes, you find the words you don’t know for study and review using word cards.

Of course, you can learn vocabulary just by reading. But using word cards is a great way to “jump start” your vocabulary. Are you ready to start?! Here are the three steps in detail.

  1. Take a Levels Quiz to find your vocabulary level.
Log into BeeOasis.com. When you log in, BeeOasis sends you quiz results by email.
Take a “Levels Quiz,” for example NGSL Levels Quiz 1,001–1,500.
If you get below 90%, study the words in this level.
If you get above 90%, take the next Levels Quiz: NGSL Levels Quiz 1,501–2,000.
When you get below 90% on a level, study in that level.
  2. Take Word Quizzes in your level in order to find new words.
Each level is divided into 500 word groups with 10 “Word Quizzes” of 50 words.
Take the first Word Quiz in a level, e.g., NGSL Quiz 1,001–1,050.
After taking the Word Quiz, check your email to see the words you missed.
  3. Make word cards for the words you missed.
A basic word card has English on one side and your language on the other.
Study, review, and mix your word cards.
Repeat Step Two with the next Word Quiz to find more words to study.
Work on groups of 50 words at the same time.
When you learn these words, repeat Step Two and Three with new quizzes.
After review and study, you can repeat Word Quizzes if you want.
