(52 Tips for Improving your Skills)

TIP #21:

Think in vivid Images.

Here’s a quick quiz. Which of the following is easier to do?

1. Take the tennis racket back in a straight horizontal line.
2. Take the tennis racket back as if you were sweeping dishes off a coffee table.

1. Trap the soccer ball gently.LittleBookofTalent
2. Let the soccer ball kiss your foot.

1. Touch the guitar strings lightly.
2. Touch the guitar strings as if they were burning hot.

Vivid images are easier to remember and to do because vivid images are the language of skill. They capture the essence of an action, and they make it sticky so it stays in your mind. Great coaches always speak in the language of vivid images. So if you’ve got something you want to learn, convert those actions to images. They don’t need to be elaborate, they just need to be easy to see and feel.
