iphoneApple Computer has revolutionized tech. In 1984, Apple released the Macintosh. It was the first successful personal computer with a mouse and menus. In 2001, Apple released the iPod. With the first iPod, you could carry “1000 songs in your pocket.” Today an iPod can hold 30,000 songs. And Apple has sold over 140 million of them. In 2007, Apple introduced its third revolutionary device — the iPhone. It created a big impact. But what is so special about it?

The iPhone gives users 3 powerful functions. It supports a phone, a media player, and the internet. Other phones can do this too. But the iPhone did it with style and ease of use. Most of all, the iPhone connects easily to the iTunes Store. At this store, users can buy movies, songs, TV shows, music videos, audio books, and software for the iPhone. In only 9 months, developers created 25,000 software applications for the iPhone. And users downloaded over 1 billion copies.

Software on the iPhone lets you do many things. You can play a piano. You can find a coffee shop nearby or manage your diet. You can learn English, Spanish, or Japanese. You can read or listen to famous books, like Call of the Wild and The Time Machine. You can do so many things with the iPhone that people joke about it. “You can brush your teeth with the iPhone!” But seriously, the iPhone set a new standard for smart phones. When it came out, it immediately became the leader and the smartest phone on the market.
